Change is the law of nature. While some changes happen, there are many that we need to make efforts to make them happen. As in, talk about home, while some people keep looking for new house if need arises to expand or go for a house bigger in area than the current one, there are many others who think out of the box and come up with remodelling idea. Natalie Sherepa (a co-founder of FoodAdvisor.com.ua) and her husband Ihor who is a businessman planned something like this. They came up with the idea of extending their living space instead of going for a new flat. After the idea struck into their minds, what they did was they purchased 12 acres of land in Gorenichi village near Kyiv.
Followed by meeting the architect. Initially, like obvious they were not very clear about what exactly they are looking for as the end result so weren’t able to explain properly. So what their very own friend and renowned architect Sergey Makhno did was he gave them a stack of design literature to study and asked to bookmark pages they have liked.
Before I miss out, let me tell you all the architecture (images) you see here is named Buddy’s House!
By the way I know images are speaking out for themselves and letting you get the clear idea of the result. But a gist of it will make you all understand the idea, design and end result better. Location as mentioned above is KYIV Region, Gorenichi Village, total area that was made available for the architect to create wonders was 235 SQ.M.
The Plan :
Agreeing with the Sergey’s ideas the couple planned to go for bold experiments. The plan as discussed was to play with the contrasts and to make it the main scheme in the design, Powerful and delicate forms, heavy and light elements, black clinker bricks and light concrete panels, textured and smooth surfaces would be incorporated.
The border between interior and exterior of the home was eliminated through extended glazing of public zones and a master bedroom on the second floor. Letting in nature as much as possible was the main element. A decorative wall of oak trunks that creates a dynamic contrast with deep dark surfaces was too to be incorporated.
Sticking to the plan, Sergey came up with the amazing results.
All lighting fixtures embedded in the ceiling added to the charm. There is a massive lamp called Сone that is and designed by Sergey. It hangs over the dinner table in the dining room. The entire house is glazed with large windows.
Light metal stair with wooden steps as you can see in the images lead up to the second floor. On the second floor is a private zones and a master bedroom with a spacious bathroom separated by a glass partition. In the daytime a two-storied library and children’s bedroom are lightened with light tubes in the ceiling.
A elegant fireplace not just performs the decorative function, it heats the entire ground floor. The entire furniture is made by Ukrainian craftsmen analogous to workshop’s sketches.
Dark and neutral colors are combined with bright interior elements. Shades of brown, blue, and light blue specks are added too the living room color palette.
Besides, Sergey gifted the couple some really amazing paintings from his ‘Sea’ series. A carpet with different shades of turquoise was added to complement the overall interior design. Isn’t this amazing architecture by Sergey Makhno amazing? Have your say by dropping in your comments below.
